Remembrance Sunday Parade, 2013
10 November, 2013
A Remembrance Sunday parade and church service took place in Huddersfield. The parade formed on Victoria Lane at around 10.15 and set off at 10.30am, marching past the Town Hall in Ramsden Street, along New Street, turning right into Kirkgate and then into Bryam Street. A Service of Remembrance was held in Huddersfield Parish Church at 10.50.
Following the church service, the procession re-formed in Byram Street for the return route via Byram Street, St Peter's Street, John William Street, New Street and Ramsden Street. The Civic Party, and representatives of Public Bodies and Associations took the salute in the Market Place. On arrival in Ramsden Street the Mayor gave a short speech before the parade was dismissed.
Along with the Royal Naval Association, more than 30 organisations formed a huge parade, from the 4th Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment to the Girl Guides and the Sea Cadets and the British Red Cross Society.
